Mils

My MIL has tried to make some slick comments and stuff but she always gets shut down quickly and thoroughly. People know not to try that mess with me because I'm not the one. Sorry not sorry. My kids, my way...you had your chance it's my turn and if you don't like it you know where you can find the door. Does your SO back your plays though? Like are you a unified front? Because like bloodhounds, MILs can smell dissension in the ranks. maybe he needs to talk to her himself since she's his mom.

My MIL isn't like that all BUT my own mom is. It's funny too because she was not a very present mom but all of a sudden she the expert on parenting lol! I had to put her in her place a few times and now she's pretty careful about what she does/ says around us.

My mil is an evil bitch. She and Fil gave their wedding rings to the kids. Dh got hers and sil got his. 7 years later mil still asks me when she sees me how her rings are. I finally took them off and handed them to dh and told him he can do whatever he he wants with them but I will never wear them again.

Dh never even told her when I was pregnant with dd2. She has only seen her once since she was born. She calls at 2 in the morning drunk and screams at dh over nothing. If he doesn't help her he is worthless.

When I was pregnant with dd1 she was angry that she was a girl and wanted dh to get a paternity test because their family was suppose to have a boy. She also got mad at me for being happy about being pregnant. She said it was an unplanned pregnancy and no one should be happy about that.

She once told me that she wishes she could replace her ex husband's head in their wedding pictures with my dh her son.

This woman has made my life a living hell and I no longer speak to her. My children don't even really know her.

I have three MILs (mom, step-mom, and bio mom). All three had an immediate skepticism when it came to me because I was considered "troubled" when my DH and I started dating as teens.

After many years of dating, DH's mom has shown more and more how endeared I am to her. It was a slow process, but I've welcomed it because it has been very genuine. She just needed the time to get to know me. Now, she is extremely proud of me and loves to brag about me to whoever will listen. While that's sometimes embarrassing, I realize that she could hate me, so I just grin and bear it. I really do love her.

DH's step-mom and I have never gotten along. Probably partially stemming from the fact that she hates my DH. She finally got so deep under my skin a couple years ago that I actually had a full-blown yelling match with her, which shocked everyone in the family because I'm typically really level-headed and reserved. I don't know that I will ever like her. She is very rude and phony. While we are civil to each other at this point, that is about it. There is no affection there.

DH's bio mom took a very long time to warm up to me. It wasn't until my DH and I were married and she heard the vows that I wrote that she ever made an effort. Just based on the last visit, we are in a much different place compared to where we once were. We were actually laughing! I'm not sure where our relationship will go though since she isn't much a part of our lives.. DH is very disappointed in how little she has tried to be involved in his. He actually told me recently that when I finally get pregnant, he wants us to drive to visit her and have a "talk." He wants to tell her that if she plans to continue things as they have gone, that he doesn't want her to be a part of her grandchild's life and ours. He doesn't feel that children should be a novelty, acknowledged only when the mood strikes her. It actually surprised me how powerfully he felt about it because he doesn't talk about her much.. But I am fully supportive of his choice.
