"The Luv Game"
Valentine’s Day is coming and I thought I would make DH something extra special. A couple of weeks ago he made a comment to me about talking to each other more about stuff other than what is going on with the kids, what happened during our day etc. It is so easy to get “lost” in the mundane tasks required to run a household, pay bills and raise children. Then when you finally wade your way out of the quagmire of daily life, you realize that the kids are grown and you do not know who your spouse is any more. I have seen it happen way too many times to my friends, friends’ parents and relatives. I wanted to do something proactive so I did some brainstorming and found a way to spice up our sex life and dig deeper into our inner most thoughts. The Luv Game is cheesy, a little raunchy and most definitely sure to get a giggle out of each of us.
Things you will need:
Metallic markers
Sturdy foam board
Cardstock
Printing paper or specialty 8x10 paper
Stickers to decorate your board
Letter stickers
Eye mask
Extra stickers for game
Edible body pens (I bought mine at Spencer’s)
Paper cutter that is capable of cutting cardstock
Game pieces (candy, condoms...use your imagination )
2 Dice
I went on a hunt to a bunch of different craft stores to find stickers to use for the board game spaces, decorative stickers, glittery cardstock, and cutesy heart paper for my “Bedroom Bucks”. I also decided to pick up some letter stickers because my handwriting is terrible and I wanted my board game to look fabulous!
At home with all my supplies, I got immediately to work. I found the center of the top of the foam board and started applying the letter stickers to spell out “The Luv Game”. Next on my list was getting the board spaces configured. I cut out the hexagon pieces but left the backing still on them so that I could arrange them on the foam board to figure out my lay out. With some patience and a few swear words, I finally found a layout I liked while still managing to spell out “Luv”.
I drew rectangles on the board with the gold metallic marker. On each corner, I added a tiny heart sticker and then wrote in the name of each space: ? For question cards; Tryst for the gold cards. It still needed some pizzazz so I started applying glittery hearts all around the rectangles. I applied a big heart to the beginning of my board game layout as the “starting” space and then a fancy one at the end of the “v”.
Using Microsoft Word (see attachment labeled “coupons”), I designed text boxes with a cute thick boarder. “Bedroom Bucks” was the title I used for my love coupons. The fonts utilized were Curlz for the actual font and Cambria Math (for hearts). The rest of the text was done in Calibiri (Body).
I wrote up the rules to the game (see attachment labeled “Rules”):
The 30 gold Tryst cards are my favorite part of the game. Some examples:
- +1 piece of clothing
- -1 piece of clothing
- Hickey Contest
- Strip Tease contest: Who has the sexiest moves?
- Wrestling: whoever wins, removes an article of clothing from the loser.
- Lap Dance
- Win love coupons
- Write a poem on your spouse’s body
- Slow Dance to “your song”
- Pictionary with edible body pens
- Find the naughty stickers: in 90seconds how many stickers can you find?
- The Dice Game: Die#1 has an action: 1-lick, 2-suck, 3-stroke, 4-massage, 5-tickle, 6-rub. Die#2 has a body part: 1-Lips, 2- Ears, 3- Neck, 4-Inside of Thighs, 5- Chest, 6-“Privates”.
- Go backwards cards: answer the question how you think your spouse would
- Body art
The 60 red/pink question cards took me some time to come up with. Most I pulled from various articles online. The questions I used are in an attached Microsoft Word doc title “questions”. A very creative title, right?
The template for the cards is also attached to this tutorial. The first thing to do before printing the cards is to make sure that the nice glittery or patterned side is facing the right way. I wanted to print on the blank side of the glitter cardstock so I used a regular piece of printer paper to figure out how I needed to arrange the cardstock in the printing tray to make sure I printed on the correct side. I still managed to screw up once. Oops!
It helps to make the boarders of the cards a grayish color that way you can see where you need to cut and if you make a mistake the border will not be very noticeable. I managed to keep all the cards about the same size with a very small margin of error. Yay! This took plenty of patience and I learned quickly that it is best done during nap time. I bought the Swingline Guillotine Paper Trimmer which cut the cardstock with no problem. I kind of wish I splurged on buying the one with a laser guide to help me keep the paper straight but oh well!
The final product:
I can’t wait to surprise him with the game.
