As I near the end of my pregnancy, I can't stop reading hospital family horror stories. I'm sure that sounds awful and bizarre, but it's satisfying something in me right now. That place in my heart between Maury and A Baby Story, lol.
So, did any of you have any crazy pregnancy/delivery/post-partum drama? Or anything that just pissed you right off while you were in labor?
I didn't have anything crazy happen, medical complications aside. Except my mother and in-laws showed up at the hospital while I was laboring, even though I explicitly asked them not to. MIL thought it was an appropriate time to vent about her delivery horror stories, her daughter born with cerebral palsy, and the c-section supposedly had without anesthetic. When I remember my labor, the thing I remember the most is how angry and uncomfortable I felt by the way my mother and MIL were just staring at me during contractions. It still pisses me off to this day.
Also, in-laws invited themselves to our tiny house for an 'extended stay' a few days before my induction. I said hell to the no, and they came anyway. They hung around for a couple of days, but when I ended up needing a c-section I put my foot down and told them they needed to find a hotel before I was released from the hospital. MIL was super upset, guilt tripped the shit out of us, and decided to drive back home instead, several states away. The day she left, she came to the hospital, scooped up DS and sobbed and sniffled all over him for a several hours, generally making me feel like a huge bitch. Whatever, though. NFG.
Anyway, I bet some of you have way more interesting stories than I do!
Also, what would/did you do differently in subsequent deliveries to make things more comfortable?

My first was awful. The delivery was ok but a had a secondary PPH a week after I had her. I ended up losing a lot of blood and almost bled to death. I had a really bad infection and I was in intensive care. I couldn't see my new baby while I was in there, and when I finally could see her, I wasn't allowed to do anything for her because I had to "rest". I was in hospital for a week.

My second was pretty uneventful other than having an emergency csection that got infected.

My third was by far the worst experience of my life. He was a month early and weighed 10lb 4oz, so he was a big baby. He was supposed to be a csection but I went into labour early and they decided to make me try for a vbac. They changed their minds last minute but it was too late. Because of his size (and because they already knew I would be able to birth him) he had shoulder dystocia. That resulted in a 3rd degree 3c tear for me (which still causes pain nearly 8 months later) and him to have a fractured collarbone and nerve damage. He was also born blue and not breathing so had to be resuscitated. The most horrible thing was lying on the bed, staring at my blue, lifeless baby, while everyone ran around trying to help him. I'll never forget genuinely hearing a sigh of relief from the doctor right before hearing him cry for the first time. I'll be forever greatful to the man who saved my baby's life. Had he not been on call that night, my baby probably wouldn't be here now. He then spent a week in NICU. My heart literally broke and I cried my eyes out the day I left hospital without him. No mother should have to go through that

Wow, the third especially sounds extremely scary. Is he completely okay, now? Thank goodness that Dr was there that night.
I'm planning a VBAC this delivery. Also expecting a large baby. I'm trying to find a balance between visualizing the amazing, powerful experience I want, and focusing on that, trying not to be afraid, but also being prepared that an emergency could happen.

With ds2 they diagnosed me with pre eclampsia during labor. I had planned a water birth but that caused it to not happen. My blood pressure stabilized part way through my labor but because of the protein in my urine they still said no tub. The next day while talking to another midwife in the practice she told me she thought my urine sample was possibly contaminated and I never really had pre-e. I was furious. My labor was so painful and I was so upset that my plans had changed. Just the thought that they'd made a mistake had messed up what I'd envisioned for my son's birth was and still is so upsetting.

When I had DD3, everyone was up at the hospital. Dh, MIL, FIL, BIL, BIL's girlfriend, my little sister, my little brother, my dad, my step mom, and for a little while DD1 and DD2. It was a freaking mad house in the delivery room.
They started my pitocin and my contractions weren't too bad. I was still able to talk through them. Well, my dad was sitting next to the contraction monitor and would let me know when a contraction was coming on. That didn't bother me too much, it actually helped. What bothered me was when my doctor broke my water and everybody was allowed back in, my contractions had multiplied in pain by 100. My little brother (12, he's at that annoying stage), decided to sit down next to my dad and read the contraction monitor too. At this point the pain was so intense I couldn't talk through them, and I was almost in tears. My brother starts to yell at me, "Ohhhhh, here comes another one! Ohhhh, this one's going to be bad! Oh I bet that HURTS!"
I just look at him while trying not to punch him, "Yes, Dalton I fucking know it hurts!"

Needless to say, if I do happen to have another baby in the future, he will not be allowed in the room! Lol.

I wouldn't want anyone apart from SO there, I would have been major bitch and had them removed.

No major stories.. DD1 probably would have been born at home if she weighed a lil less. Got to the hospital for the pushing. Had SO major stressed screaming at him asking where the taxi was, kept making him ring back.

DD2 , labour was fine, I was in labour cleaning the house and marinading my chicken. In hospital I was across from a woman going on like she was being murdered, and when the nurse checked her she was like 'your 1cm have a paracetamol' then decided Not to check me when I asked, so I ended up having to send SO out minutes later to grab somebody and tell them I needed to push. 6minutes in the delivery room and she was out.

Nothing too major, I explicitly told everyone not to show up until like 10-1030 or whatever time since my csection would take a bit and no point in sitting around worrying. My dad and sister showed up randomly before my csection loud as heck while my MIL was praying via phone for an hour and I'm about to go have a preemie.
My dad was supposed to tell my grandpa and aunt I was having him, but he thought my son might have major complications so he didn't. Pretty sure they found out via facebook.
I spent 2 hours in recovery pretty much alone while everyone else got to at least look at my son, I got to hold him first though.
My friend drove 6 hours down to be with me-- my son ended up being the exact size her brother was at birth we all grew up together so it was nice knowing a good story of a 3 lb baby.
Oh there was a family who set up a Chinese buffet in the waiting area, the one I had to go through to see my son in the special care nursery. OMG it stunk and they were annoying but I'm sure they were just happy.

With DS1, we told everyone that no one needed to come up to the hospital until after he was born and we called/texted to let them know. My mom threw a fit. She lives 5 hours away anyways, so we let her know when he was close to being here so she could start her drive, since they were only driving down to see him and then heading home. Anyways, they got there. Came in, scooped him up, took a bunch of pictures, and barely spoke to anyone. Whatever. Then after about 20 minutes they said they needed to head home because they had to work the next day. Told them bye and thanks for coming. My younger brother (17 at the time) followed them down. They ended up sitting in the parking lot talking to him for two hours. Ok, whatever, again. But then my brother came up to my room and started running his mouth about "oh they don't like either one of you and they didn't think it was right you didn't tell them so they could be here when he was born". I went off on him and kicked him out of my room after that.

DS2's delivery was almost uneventful lol We had a few eye roll moments in the weeks before he was born because people just assumed they would be there for the birth (again). But the night he was born, my mom had someone screenshot one of his birth announcement pics off of IG because I have her blocked and then she posted it and started talking crap about me. Other than that, our hospital stay was quite peaceful. Only had two visitors the entire time!

I'm hoping this next delivery is like your second. This is going to make me sound like a HUGE bitch, but MIL passed away two years ago, and while I really feel terrible for my SO because his mother isn't around to see his second child, for myself I'm relieved that there won't be a parade of visitors and stress this time.

I've asked myself that same question. What I don't understand is why people want to see their relative's vagina while pushing a kid out. Lol I mean, really? I have no desire to sit in on any of my family/friend's births. I'll see the baby once it's out.

After a 37 hour labor my MIL weaseled her way into the room just in time to watch my start pushing, even though I had made it very clear no one was allowed in unless invited. DS's heart rate kept dropping with her push. At the point my midwife said we needed to call the OB in to talk about a csection because she thought my baby was stuck in my pelvis (he was), MIL started all her "I knew she would need a csetion" "good thing she got that epidural so they don't have to knock her out" "I just knew this was how things were going" bull shit. Then as they were taking me out of the room off the surgery she was arguing with the nurses about why she couldn't wait in the room for us (my hospital brings you back to you your for recovery after a csection and doesn't allow visitors for 61st least an hour) and then pitched a fit because she had to wait to see the baby. Forget that her daughter in law has been in labor for 37 hours and her grandson was stuck and they were headed to a csection and her son was crying because he was terrified, let's pitch some fits and make it about you MIL!!

Then the day after my csection my husband's sister visits with her husband and two kids. The kids were awful and literally running around the room and jumping on and off the bed. The nurse at one point that day also had to tell my MIL to give me my baby because we needed to breastfeed. Someone from my husband's family was pretty much always up in our room and they weren't quiet or polite.

My second son was a planned csection and I told the hospital not to let a single person come to my room. Even my husband had to give them a special code before they let him back there. I bonded so much faster with DS2. I made a lot of people mad not letting them visit in the hospital but it was the best decision I ever made and I will never regret it.

My husband now is NOTHING like him and is an amazing husband and step father.

My first was awful too. 30 frigging hrs in labor, 5 weeks early, 19 years old, scared shitless, and dh was also drunk so I had to drive myself to the hospital at 1:30 am lol (In his defense neither of us were expecting me to go into labor, I told him to go have fun that night). So he was still out of it when he came to the hospital, passed put immediately. My mom came and then gave me such shit for getting an epidural I almost kicked her ass out. Fil showed up out of nowhere and witnessed the whole thing but since he was the only one not irritating the shit out of me, I let him stay lol. Heart rate kept dropping, labor kept starting and stopping and there was talk of either sending me home (at 7cm fuckin dilation) or c-section. No one knew what to do. At least after the epi my muscles relaxed and I was able to progress. Then after all of it I got to hold ds for like one second before they whisked him away to nicu and I didn't understand why bc I was a dumb teenager that didn't get prematurity. No one explained shit; my mother had to march to nicu and demand answers as to what ds needed. Dh and fil cried which was cute but kind of unnerving lol. Then my friend showed up with flowers when I was still delivering the placenta lol. Just an all around awful experience.
My second labor and birth was absolutely perfect.
